Pakistan Boycott India at T20 World Cup: ICC Set For Emergency Meeting

Pakistan government has permitted its men’s cricket team to travel to Sri Lanka for the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup. However, it has also announced that the team won’t take the field for its group match against India on February 15 in Colombo. No specific reason has been given behind the call though. The decision though is aimed at ICC given an India-Pakistan match at a global cricket event is usually the most lucrative and most-matched fixture.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) though hasn’t sent any official communication to the ICC regarding the announcement made by their national government. Taking note of the development, the ICC has warned PCB of long-term ramifications should they not face India.

As per reports, the International Cricket Council will hold an emergency meeting within the next 48 hours to take a call on Pakistan after their government said the team won’t take the field against India during the T20 World Cup.
