The New Zealand team landed in New Delhi on Thursday morning for their long tour to the sub-continent.
Kiwi players received a warm welcome from Afghanistan as the welcome board outside the New Zealand team’s hotel read “A warm Afghan welcome to New Zealand team” and “Welcome Black Caps”.
There were also pictures of New Zealand and Afghanistan Test teams displayed. Captain Tim Southee led the team as the players were showered with flower petals on their arrival at their team hotel in Greater Noida.
Afghanistan and New Zealand will face each other in a one-off Test match, starting September 9 at the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground. This is also the Afghanistan team’s adopted home ground and the venue will be host to the first-ever Test match between the two teams.
