Ahead of the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League, a report from Cricbuzz claimed that the BCCI could delay the announcement till the end of the month possibly making the news public during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is slated to take place on September 29.
The announcement which was supposed to be made by the end of August could be delayed as franchise officials are reportedly being informed that there could be a delay in the final retention rules being made public.
The upcoming IPL mega-auction could serve as a platform for all franchises to completely overhaul their side in a bid to be title contenders in the long-term perspective.
The report also claimed that all the teams would have a deadline of November 15 to finalise their retentions and the Right-to-Match card will also be a feature present in the mega-auction which is supposed to be held in December 2024.
