Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan was seen exiting a training session prematurely after sustaining an injury to his elbow, raising questions about his participation in the first Test against Australia in Perth, commencing November 22.
Footage from Fox Cricket revealed the blow he sustained while batting at the WACA ground in Perth.
Despite the scare, Wisden reports confirm Sarfaraz is suffering ‘no issues’ with his elbow. The 27-year-old remains in the running for a spot in the Perth Test at Optus Stadium, especially with captain Rohit Sharma likely absent for personal reasons.
Competing for the same middle-order slot are seasoned batter KL Rahul and promising wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel, who recently shone during the Australia A-India A series.
Sarfaraz, who debuted internationally with back-to-back half-centuries against England, has shown mixed form thereafter, scoring only one century against New Zealand. As the Border-Gavaskar series approaches, Sarfaraz faces the challenge of proving his worth on Australia’s fast wickets, having yet to play Tests outside India.
