Champions Trophy 2025: New Zealand reach semifinal with a five-wicket win over Bangladesh

Michael Bracewell’s four wickets along with Rachin Ravindra’s magnificent century sealed New Zealand’s comfortable semifinal berth in Champions Trophy 2025, crushing any hopes of a Bangladesh upset on Monday in Rawalpindi.

Back in 2017, it was Bangladesh who eliminated the Black Caps in the race to the semis with a five-wicket win in Cardiff and this time around, New Zealand returned the favour.

New Zealand’s clinical performance on a challenging pitch has eliminated both Bangladesh and Pakistan from the Champions Trophy 2025.

With the Kiwis winning, Rohit Sharma’s India also secured their berth in the semis. Meanwhile, hosts Pakistan have been knocked out of the competition. Their last match against Bangladesh on February 27 in Rawalpindi is a dead rubber and has no bearing to semi-final qualification. India and New Zealand will face off on March 2 to fight for the top spot in Group A.
