T20 WC 2026 Final: More than an Extravaganza in Ahmedabad!

Published

on

The Indian cricket team touched down in Ahmedabad on Friday evening, ahead of what could be a historic T20 World Cup final against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium on March 8.

The BCCI doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned in order to give the ‘Men in Blue’ the best chance of winning the third T20 World Cup trophy.

In Ahmedabad, the BCCI has changed India’s team hotel ahead of the final.

While no one will come on record but it is only fair to mention that during team’s previous couple of stays in the earlier hotel in Ahmedabad, they lost two big matches (2023 ODI WC final and this year’s Super 8s against South Africa).

According to ESPNcricinfo, the centre pitch expected to be used for the title clash is likely to be a mix of red and black soil. These hybrid strips generally offer the best of both worlds, enough bounce and pace for strokeplay, but also some grip for bowlers as the match moves along.

Puerto Rican Grammy award winning singer Ricky Martin will enthral near 100,000 spectators at the Narendra Modi Stadium along with ‘Dandiya Queen’ Phalguni Pathak and Bollywood playback singer Sukhwinder Singh ahead of the T20 World Cup final between India and New Zealand on Sunday.

The ICC has planned a musical entertainment ahead of the toss and the audience are likely to get a chance to groove to the beats of his iconic chartbuster ‘Un Dos Ttres (one two three) Maria’.

Western Railway’s special train for final

Understanding the heavy demand of fans travelling to Ahmedabad for the big ticket finale, the Western Railway will run a special train from Mumbai to Ahmedabad on the match day.

This will allow a convenient and affordable journey for the fans with the air fare prices of the Ahmedabad sector already soaring.

The stakes could not be higher. India are the defending T20 World Cup champions, having lifted the trophy in the previous edition, and are now on the verge of achieving something no team has ever done. However, India survived England’s assault in Mumbai. The final against New Zealand may not allow the same margin for error.

The passionate fans will not be able to celebrate Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s title defence with the team after the franchise decided against holding a victory parade in the city in order to avoid the crowd frenzy, which led to last year’s deadly stampede.

Virat Kohli once again delivered on the biggest stage as Royal Challengers Bengaluru defended their IPL title with a five-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in the final in Ahmedabad on Sunday, extending his remarkable run of consistency in a format increasingly dominated by ultra-aggressive batting.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s second IPL title win came on Rajat Patidar’s 33rd birthday but more than that happy coincidence the skipper was pleased with his team’s start-to-end domination in the league.

The RCB took such a decision also keeping in mind the swearing-in ceremony of newly-appointed Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
